Break the Fake: 3-Part Workshop & Peer Learning Circle
Everyday AI series
Saturday, November 21
2:30pm - 3:30pm
Join this small group learning circle to complete the self-paced online Break the Fake tutorial from MediaSmarts. Knowledge of how to use a computer and the internet is required. This is peer-led.
This introductory-level online tutorial, created by MediaSmarts, focuses on building skills to recognize misinformation and disinformation online and the role Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays in this.
Each participant will work through the self-guided online tutorial at their own pace over the course of three sessions (one hour each week). The three Saturday session dates are: November 21, 28 and December 5.
Library staff will be available to assist you with accessing the content online, troubleshooting technical issues, and answering questions about the subject matter. While completing the course, you will also be encouraged to practice the skills you are learning and try out recommended resources.
Peer discussion and sharing tips and tricks are also an encouraged part of the learning process!
Library laptops will be provided for participants to use during the program.
This course is recommended for those with basic computer and internet skills. Please ensure you are available to attend all three sessions. Click the "Register" button to reserve your spot.
