Tim Hortons Learn to Paddle Session

Generously sponsored by Tim Hortons, Barrie Public Library is very excited to invite you to try dragon boating this summer!
These 60-minute sessions give residents the opportunity to try the sport of Dragon Boat in a safe and fun environment at no charge. Paddlers will begin their session with a mini on land training session hosted by local dragon boat extraordinaire Jeff Aldridge, Owner of Corporate Recess. Paddlers will enjoy learning about the sport of dragon boating, boat safety, paddling techniques and commands. Following this, paddlers will proceed onto the water in a dragon boat to enjoy a paddle on Barrie's beautiful Kempenfelt Bay. A Personal Floatation Device and Paddle will be provided. Please arrive 15 mins early for paddler check-in and equipment fitting.
Ages 14+
Do note, this program is not hosted at the Library. Registered Paddlers will be asked to meet at the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival shed at the edge of Heritage Park. The Learn to Paddle sessions are held on Kempenfelt Bay launching from the docks in the City of Barrie Marina (next to Heritage Park).
