Learn how to relax your audience (and yourself), encourage readers to ask questions, and deliver your work in its best way. Local author Colleen Winter will facilitate the panel.

Colleen Winter

With one foot in the world of technology and the other in the world of words, Colleen Winter’s fiction explores our relationship with technology and ultimately the choices it requires us to make. She is an electrical engineer and former journalist and was short-listed for the 2020 Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize in Speculative Fiction.  
 
When she isn’t writing, Colleen can be found hiking or climbing the beautiful places of the world. She lives with her pack in Barrie that includes her husband and their two dogs.

Panelists

Bruce A. Hanson (aka Robert Rime) is an award-winning, multi-genre author who writes for all ages. 

Elephants in My Stew is a picture book/poem filled with animal chaos. Upcoming picture books include: (title TBD), a story about a grandfather and his grandchildren; Elmooo and Shira Go to the Fall Fair; and, Elephants in my Stew and Other Tidbits, a book of children’s poems. 

Double Cross, a mystery/thriller for ages 9 to 90, has received wonderful reviews. Murder & Other Love Stories, a collection of short fiction which includes 5 award-winning short stories, will be available late November, 2023.

Jason George  is a wildlife photographer, presenter, and writer who recently relocated to the rural settings of Wasaga Beach to get closer to nature when he retired from teaching full-time to chase his passion for wildlife. 

Jason is currently working on a solo book series “Going Deeper with Jason George” – Red Foxes, Moose, Cheetah, Penguin, Owls with personal stories, lots of photos, colouring pages of select images in the book, which link to videos on his YouTube channel. He has a different series about his experiences with dyslexia and learning disabilities. Plus, his first wildlife series “The World with Jason George – Canada” and “The World with Jason George –Africa

Jason seems to have a magical connection with animals which helps him capture these amazing natural pictures (both ethically and humanely). He gets the best pictures of the animals without hurting or baiting them.

Trudee Romanek is a former picture-book editor and the award-winning author of a dozen non-fiction books for young readers and the youth musical The Tales of Andergrimm. Her first full work of fiction, the young adult novel Raising the Stakes, was published by Orca books in October 2015, and her first professional full-length play, Bobbie, was produced by Theatre by the Bay in 2023.
