Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a multi-disciplinary approach to deterring criminal behaviour through through environmental design. CPTED strategies rely upon the ability to influence offender decisions that precede criminal act.

Keira Brooks has been a Police Constable for 26 years.

Keira’s most rewarding position was within the Community Services Unit which afforded her the opportunity to truly embody the Barrie Police Service motto, “Committed to our Community”. She played a vital part in fostering relationships with community members especially the youth and seniors to develop important community initiatives to provide education sessions to enhance safety in her community. She brought to light a community initiative working with downtown businesses to enhance the area by providing a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design approach. This project morphed while working with a variety of community partners into the Bright Spot program.

Her current position is the Community Safety and Well-Being Officer. She started in January 2021. This position works with the community and our community partners to plan, problem solve and mitigate risk and improve safety for all persons within our City.

She prides herself on representing the Barrie Police Service with the utmost professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, and excellence.

This program is offered in partnership with the Small Business Centre Barrie, Simcoe County & Orillia, Downtown Barrie BIA and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. To register, call 705-720-2445 or use the registration link.
