Trudee Romanek is Barrie born and raised. Her professional career as a playwright, editor, and award-winning author spans more than thirty years. These days, Trudee’s writing and editorial focus is on theatrical scripts. Her work for the stage has been presented by Barrie’s Theatre by the Bay (The Ghost Watchers) and at Theatre on the Ridge (Half Baked and “I” on the Prize) in Port Perry. Her drama Bright Daybreak was selected for Lunchbox Theatre’s 2021 Festival of New Canadian Work in Calgary, and in June, her comedy “I” on the Prize will be staged at the Simcoe County Theatre Festival. Trudee is a member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada, the Writers Union of Canada, SOCAN, and Canscaip. She also co-hosts Stage Whispers, a podcast about theatre in Central Ontario. Theatre by the Bay is a professional theatre company seeking to grow the Central Ontario arts community by empowering local theatre artists, engaging local audiences with high quality programming, and telling stories that showcase the diverse peoples of Barrie and Simcoe County. The South Simcoe Theatre (SST) is a not-for-profit community theatre dedicated to offering a wide variety of high quality productions. Each year, we present a program of contemporary as well as traditional theatre works.  SST’s vision is to produce Great Community Theatre.
