About Scott Hurst:
I'm a 61 year old, openly gay white male who was born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario. Before settling in Barrie in 1995 I lived in Toronto, Midland, Stratford and, for 3 months, in Moscow, Russia in 2002. I've earned a living as an actor, singer, dancer, director, writer/playwright, choreographer, producer, designer, emcee, acting coach, stage manager, photographer and mentor. I acted in the Stratford Festival Acting Company in 1985, 1988, 1993, 1996 and 2010, and last month a solo show that I directed and helped develop (Andrew Prashad's ONE STEP AT A TIME) appeared in the new Tom Patterson Theatre (Lazaridis Hall). Locally I have acted at the Gravenhurst Opera House, Orillia Opera House, and with both Theatre by the Bay and Talk is Free Theatre. I've directed for South Simcoe Theatre, Kempenfelt Community Players, Talk is Free Theatre, Theatre by the Bay, On Stage Performance Group, Sunshine Festival and I helped produce all Barrie's Choralfest in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Recently I performed my solo show LAUGHTON COMMON as part of Theatre Collingwood's Porchside Festival and I just finished Emceeing Dusk Dances Barrie for Simcoe Contemporary Dancers. I've sat on two different Barrie Arts Councils, and the Downtown Community Theatre Consultation Group, and I was awarded an Excellence in the Arts Award in 2009's Barrie Arts Awards.
