OMVIC is the regulator of motor vehicle sales in Ontario, administering and enforcing consumer protection legislation on behalf of the Government. Our mandate is not only to protect consumers, but also to educate them. Part of our consumer awareness outreach includes “Car?Buying Seminars.” These free presentations are particularly helpful for car buyers who do not have a thorough understanding of the regulations governing vehicle sales.

Scott Long
With an educational background in law, communications, and business surrounding the automotive industry, Scott Long pursued a career at a place that combined all three: OMVIC, Ontario’s Vehicle Sales Regulator. In early 2015, Scott joined OMVIC’s legal services department where he dealt with dealer/salesperson licence refusals, licence revocations, discipline matters and Provincial Offences appeals. In August of 2017, Scott moved to OMVIC’s Communications, Media Relations and Education Team and is now their Senior Education Officer. Scott travels Ontario educating consumers and dealers on their rights/obligations when buying/selling vehicles in Ontario.
