Non-members are welcome to drop-in, however please register if you wish to be critiqued (see contact name below). This group meets the 2nd Monday from 6:30-8:30pm and 4th Monday from 6:00-8:30pm, holidays may affect dates.

Second Mondays: Critiques. Non-members please register by contacting Marilyn Lamb, to be critiqued in the first hour. Drop-ins welcome but may not be critiqued. Last hour members will be critiqued.
Fourth Mondays: We will be discussing a topic of choice.

- February 23: Adapting Your Writing for the Screen with Kyle PopovichKyle Popovich is a 2012 Vancouver Film School graduate in Film Production with over 14 years of experience in producing, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, and motion picture editing. A Director’s Guild of Canada member who has edited 5 feature films, coloured 7 feature films and directed over 10 short films and 30 music videos. He directed his first feature length film, Haunted Nightmare House premiered for free on YouTube, Halloween 2025, and is currently producing his second, third, and fourth feature films this 2026 year.
- March 23: Using Beat Sheets to Plan or Revise Your Writing - Whether you outline your story in detail before you start or you're a "pantser" who goes with whatever the creative flow brings, you can use beat sheets to both plan and revise. These worksheets allow you to lay out plot, character arcs, turning points, inciting incident, and so on to the wrap-up. Great for planners and wonderful for organizing that messy first draft for "pantsers." Find out how beat sheets can streamline your story, whatever stage you're at.
- April 27: Consignment and Book Selling Tips with Bruce Hanson - Bruce A. Hanson is the recipient of 9 writing awards for fiction and 1 award for non-fiction. His YA novella, Double Cross, was named a Finalist in the Whistler Independent Book Awards 2024. His books, Murder and Other Love Stories, Double Cross, and Elephants in my Stew (under the pen name Robert Rime), provide reading experiences for almost all ages. His short fiction collection, Murder and Other Love Stories, includes 5 of his award winning short stories.Bruce has successfully represented his works in multiple signing appearances and belongs to a number of authors’ organizations. He offers valuable advice on consigning books in stores, both chain and independent, along with tips on in-person selling. Writers at any stage of the creative journey will benefit from Bruce’s extensive experience
- May 25: Author Michael Walton, will be speaking at the Barrie Writers Club about aspects of his life, his writing and his books. As a police officer, Michael, has been part of multiple investigative teams chasing criminals involved in murder, gun trafficking, drug trafficking, and multi-million-dollar fraud. Michael’s fictional, 3-book APOK Series centres on Miguel Mejia, aka APOK, a former military special operative turned police officer. The first book opens with APOK sitting behind bars, incarcerated for murder.
