In our lives, lifestyle and nutrition education hold immense importance towards sustainable lifestyle changes to achieve health goals and enhance overall well-being. This program will aim at making healthier choices and lasting changes. We will learn the following:
• How different foods affect blood sugars
• Portion control
• Planning balanced meals and snacks
• Glycemic Index
• Physical activity
Our presenter, Deborah Briggs-Heddleston RN, BScN, is a Certified Diabetes Educator and Insulin pump trainer. She currently works at LMC Healthcare as a diabetes educator. She graduated from George Brown College in 1984 with Diploma in Nursing with honors. She went back to Ryerson University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Honors in 2007. She has 40 years of nursing experience, the last 30 years of which has been dedicated solely to the care of individuals living with diabetes. She has been a certified Diabetes educator since 1995.
