The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)is dedicated to sharing the remarkable heritage of the ancient Egyptian civilisation for the advancement of knowledge and the nourishment of the human spirit. The GEM is a unique cultural landscape that offers to redefine what a museum can be. As GEM prepares for its successful opening, come hear about archaeology and heritage management in Egypt and the exciting promise for the future of museums and learning the GEM represents.

About the presenter:

Zoe McQuinn has recently returned from Egypt where she spent three years as a museum and learning expert and accessibility advisor at the Grand Egyptian Museum Project, Giza. With over 20 years experience working in museums and universities, she is currently a sessional lecturer in the Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations Department at the University of Toronto where she applies her extensive expertise and experience in a wide variety of themes including ancient Egyptian archaeology, material culture, art, religion, as well as decolonization in Egyptology, and women and gender studies.
