This presentation will cover a historical overview of Eastern Europe and how it morphed through divisions and border changes, from wars and battles into the countries that we have in today's world. Eva will cover the majority of Eastern European countries and will share the impacts of the various cultures that share the borders of this magnificent area. Join to be guided through various research resources, how to plan research and address potential challenges and solutions for this type of genealogical research. This presentation will discuss topics like what is in a name, naming traditions, languages, the various handwriting styles as well as the various types of records that can be located. Eva will also supply a list of websites and databases that hold a huge amount of information for this region.

About Eva: Eva is a scatterling of South African with a hint of German, with the stories of her ancestors she received a sprinkle of Jewish, a splash of Polish, a dash of Russian, and a pinch of Romanian and just found Danish, and so the bug bit! Eva has immigrated three times - South Africa to England, after 8 years to Canada -back to England after 10 years. She specializes in German, South African and Eastern European Genealogy. Over 40 years of research, Eva has her Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies - German Records and Eastern Europe and is a member of many genealogical societies.
