About Nancy Leveque
As a teen, Nancy would sit into the wee hours of the morning listening to her father and his half-sister talk about the grandparents she never knew. As her Aunt only visited once or twice a year, the visits were eagerly anticipated. Back then there were no computers or giant databases full information waiting to be searched. It was pencil to paper, writing letters to far off organizations hoping that some kind soul would respond. And more often than not, they did, one gentleman remarking that he hoped she wouldn’t be offended that he and another were discussing her query while standing in line at the bank. Now fifty some years later, it is Nancy’s turn to give back.
For the past 15 years Nancy has volunteered with the Simcoe County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. She initially joined the group as their Newsletter Editor, and through the years expanded her role, taking on website development has been the Branch Chair for the past 7 years. In these roles, she shares her love of history with Branch members and the public, and delights in helping everyone with obscure sources of information to help break through their research roadblocks.
