These meetups welcome newcomer children to interact and read aloud favourite books with library staff and others. Practice reading with a focus on Canadian books.
This program is in partnership with IBBY Canada's program: Reading with Newcomer Children. IBBY Canada is a non-profit organization committed to bringing books and children together as a way to foster understanding and friendship between children of different cultures. This program launched as an in-person program in 2018 as Readers and Refugees and since its inception has served hundreds of refugee and immigrant children ages 6-12. Learn more about IBBY here.
